Without trust, common ground can get pretty shaky...

"I believe you have something of mine, Zach."

The stranger's accusation throws Zach Owens for a loop. He's never seen this man in his life, and he's not prepared when he finds out what they have in common-their boyfriend, Jake.

Make that ex-boyfriend. With the jerk out of the picture, Zach hurries after the stranger to apologize... which quickly leads to some sizzling hot revenge sex.

Despite starting on the wrong foot, Nathan Forrester can't get enough of the sexy movie theater owner. Still, he's jaded and distrustful-especially when Jake keeps materializing in Zach's presence despite Zach insisting that relationship is over.

With a devious ex-boyfriend trying to sabotage their fledgling relationship, Zach and Nathan need to learn to trust each other, or they'll both wind up with nothing.

This 61,000 word novel was previously published, and has been revised to include an extended ending.

Carra's Review

This was such a great concept for this story—right off the bat it gets points from me for originality.  I’m also throwing out praise for some great characters and maybe a little bit…um, bunch of…well, okay a LOT of scorching hot, intense sex.  Yep, that’s one aspect of the book that was not skimped on at all (cue your high speed fans and ice machines folks!).

The idea that two men who were cheated on by their boyfriend—with each other—wind up coming together, first just physically and then after as something more…it makes for an interesting setup and this premise hooked me from the start.  It’s almost impossible not to feel any compassion for Nathan and Zach, and extreme dislike bordering on pure hatred for Jake.  Both Nathan and Zach are wonderful men individually—both the opposite of Jake.  I personally thought it was the perfect karma-will-bite-you-in-the-ass result for Jake that Nathan and Zach wound up falling for each other.  Their chemistry is simply electric on the physical side, and that bleeds into the emotional side over time.

The big issue that continues to rear its head is trust, specifically Nathan’s difficulty trusting Zach—or anyone really—after not just what happened with Jake, but another relationship Nathan had previously.  Between Nathan’s severe trust issues and Jake trying to push his way back into Zach’s life, Nathan and Zach’s relationship is tested again and again.  Honestly, it actually got to a point where I was frustrated with the same arguments happening repeatedly…plus I couldn’t understand why Zach didn’t just put a final stop to Jake’s continual attempts to get back with him sooner.  But in the end, that undeniable pull between Nathan and Zach overrode everything for me.

A bit of angst, a bit of frustration, a TON of holy-cow-my-e-reader-just-caught-fire scenes…and that puts Nine-Tenths of the Law at a 4-star rating from me.  Yeah, this one is strictly for readers 18+ only for adult language and plenty of explicit M/M sexual content…some may find it excessive, but it really demonstrates the connection between Zach and Nathan (while yes, okay, indulging us readers in the naughty good stuff).

Author Bio

L.A. Witt is an abnormal M/M romance writer who has finally been released from the purgatorial corn maze of Omaha, Nebraska, and now spends her time on the southwestern coast of Spain. In between wondering how she didn't lose her mind in Omaha, she explores the country with her husband, several clairvoyant hamsters, and an ever-growing herd of rabid plot bunnies. She also has substantially more time on her hands these days, as she has recruited a small army of mercenaries to search South America for her nemesis, romance author Lauren Gallagher, but don't tell Lauren. And definitely don't tell Lori A. Witt or Ann Gallagher. Neither of those twits can keep their mouths shut...
